Health Standards
PACT believes very strongly in providing top rate
care to our animals, which is why our adoption fees are almost always exceeded
by our veterinary bills.
-
All animals receive a
complete general examination and are tested and then treated for communicable
diseases, including parasites (worms, fleas).
-
Standard vaccinations
include distemper combo and booster shots, to be current at time of adoption.
Animals over four months of age will also be vaccinated for rabies, which is
required by law.
-
Cats are tested for
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) , Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and feline
heartworm.
-
Puppies over 6 months of age and all adult dogs are tested for heartworm.
-
All puppies and dogs are on monthly heartworm preventative and
flea control products.
-
All animals are
spayed/neutered BEFORE they are released to adopters.
-
All animals are
microchipped.
-
Many of our animals
(especially our seniors) have had extensive veterinary procedures, including
blood panels, dentals, thyroid checks, x-rays,
ultrasounds, and other surgeries.
We are able to provide
top-rate care thanks to our compassionate veterinarians and donations from the
public.
