Other CORE Program Services

Community Education

We conduct free TNR Workshops throughout the year in northwest suburban Cook and DuPage Counties.  At our workshops, attendees:

  • see an informational video by Alley Cat Allies, the national feral cat resource

  • hear a brief introduction to PACT Humane Society

  • witness a trapping demonstration and receive tips for safely trapping even the smartest cats

  • walk away with lists of resources for low-cost spay/neuter veterinary services for feral cats,
where to get a trap, our TNR Checklist, a step-by-step guide through the TNR process, and more...

Advocacy & Community Service

A small but dedicated group of CORE program volunteers:

  • Responds to phone calls from feral cat caregivers received on our voice mailbox.
  • Actively seeks to change local ordinances to favor TNR by meeting with town officials, Chiefs of Police, Animal Control Officers, mayors, the press, and others.
  • Assists townhome or condo association residents who are facing penalties for feeding feral cats.
  • Participates in Chicagoland Stray Cat Coalition (CSCC), a consortium of animal shelters and animal advocacy groups, based in the city of Chicago, for the purpose of advancing TNR.
  • Guides and provides on-site support to feral cat caregivers in neighborhood relations campaigns.
  • Aids the elderly or those requiring physical assistance in the TNR of their feral cats.
