Is it mandatory to give feral cats any inoculations?

It depends on the ordinances (local laws) in your community.  In some places, it's illegal to feed animals outdoors.  In this warped and antiquated way of thinking, if no one feeds the stray & feral cats, they will simply go away.  So, if it's illegal to feed them, there aren't going to be requirements to vaccinate them.

Whether or not it's legally required to vaccinate feral cats, we recommend that it be done at least once -- for rabies and feline distemper.  While feral cats don't have the benefit of having the feline distemper series before the annual booster, our veterinarians feel that some protection is better than none.
