When is the best time of the day to trap?

Trapping in the morning as the sun is rising, or at dusk, are the best times.  In order to trap at ideal times, you'll need to get the cat accustomed to being fed during those time periods or withhold food for a day or two.

Trapping while it's dark outside could be dangerous.  It's not uncommon to trap raccoons, skunks or other wildlife during evening hours.  If you do trap wildlife, release the animal immediately.   In Illinois, one must be licensed by the state to trap and transport wildlife.
