What if I trap a lactating / nursing mom cat?

Release her immediately.

Nursing kittens, especially newborns, will die without their mother.  Their mother provides food, warmth and protection.  Neonatal kittens will die of exposure within hours without their mother to provide warmth.

Besides, veterinarians will not perform spay surgeries on lactating females.

Re-trap the mom cat after she has weaned her kittens, when they are at least 4 weeks old.
