Adoption Fees & Practices

Whether you plan to adopt a cat or kitten, a puppy or a dog, it is essential to keep in mind that you are making a 10-20 year commitment to that animal. Since most of the animals available for adoption have already had one or more homes, it is essential that the animals be placed in a new, loving, and permanent home.

The adoption fee per cat is $100.   Cats that are paired will not be separated, and are $200 for the pair.

The adoption fee for puppies and dogs is $200 each.

PACT accepts cash and personal checks.

Adoption fees reimburse our humane society for the extensive veterinary care the animals receive prior to adoption.  An individual would likely pay 2-3 times this amount for the same veterinary care for their pet.

Included in the adoption fee are a microchip, vaccinations against rabies and distemper, tests for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) for cats, treatment of parasites, heartworm testing for dogs, exam by a licensed veterinarian, and the mandatory sterilization of the animal prior to adoption.  These procedures save adopters from $100 to $700.   Because kittens and puppies require a series of inoculations, adopters will most likely be responsible for the cost of some of their vaccinations.

(* Fee subject to change at PACT Humane Society discretion.)
