PACT Low-Cost Vaccine Clinics PACT runs on a budget less than the salaries of many shelter executives, yet we deliver services usually only larger, better staffed and well-funded organizations do. And we do it on all-volunteer power. We are proud of our recent foray into sponsoring low-cost vaccine clinics. The economy has been hard on many people. Many have been unemployed or underemployed for long stretches of time. The people in the city of Chicago and surrounding suburbs have access to several low-cost veterinary clinics and low-cost vaccine clinics sponsored by Petco Stores. However, the rural communities just hours outside of Cook County have been hard-hit. There, the residents have no options for low-cost spay/neuter or vaccines. After we heard from dozens of people in these underserved counties, we made a plan. Just weeks later, our first low-cost vaccine clinic was in Iroquois County on August 22, 2009. We vaccinated over 100 animals that day. Our second low-cost vaccine clinic was in Kendall County (in the town of Plano) on November 1, 2009. There, we vaccinated over 150 dogs and cats. The clients were very grateful to be able to vaccinate their dogs and cats for $5 per vaccine. "Without PACT," many told us tearfully, "we could not have afforded to get our animals vaccinated this year." PACT recruits volunteer veterinarians and laypersons to staff these events, and PACT also supplies the vaccines. Please consider making a donation to help PACT continue its mission. We will squeeze the pennies out of your hard-earned dollars and continue to expand our reach. Our next low-cost vaccine clinic will be in Morris, IL on Sunday, May 23. Save the date! More details will be published soon.
